Dungeon Breaker - 12 - When Crime Doesn't Pay
Previously, in Dungeon Breaker:
After driving off some monster-using bandits in a cave near their village, aspiring monster tamer Alec and his childhood friend Tina have traveled to the capital to visit Tina's older sister Karen, an accomplished monster tamer. The city has its share of interesting characters, including Claíomh, a frighteningly intense young woman who runs a weapons shop, and Leen, a cheerful young woman with wings--that she insists aren't real--who runs an item shop. But while they're here, Karen's patron, the "forgotten princess" Celsia, has suggested they go training in some ruins in the area that Karen has been investigating. Meanwhile, item shop owner Leen has given out a sidequest to get back a woman's stolen wedding ring.
Last session starts with a few more scenes in Celsia's mansion. Samurai Master guides Alec in a meditation exercise, but dozes off somewhere in the middle. Antenna Mage makes green tea and enjoys it with Samurai Master, who reminisces about her travels and homeland. And Alec stumbles across Antenna Mage lying motionless in the hallway, but despite the panic this causes, she just felt sleepy and decided to take a nap right there on the spot.
After having left Frisia hanging for a while, the party takes another crack at the Thief Fortress, with Healer in the back ranks to provide healing between battles without putting her in danger. This makes exploration go considerably more smoothly, particularly after she learns a multi-target healing spell. The fortress turns out to take up a lot of space without having much of particular interest, at least on the first floor. The opponents are fairly tough, though, and before filling out the whole map, Alec and Tina have already gained enough levels to start getting experience penalties. Among the sparse treasures is a key that presumably unlocks more of the area.
The session ends with pulling a few more useful skills from Healer, one of them the healing spell that restores 100 HP to the entire party for only slightly more MP cost than casting the single-target version twice, and another spell that revives a fallen party member.
I'm also taking notes to keep a running log of events and characters, though note that there may be spoilers if you haven't watched the most recent video: http://kwhazit.infinityfreeapp.com/trans/breaker/dngBrkr1.html
