NOTE: Some areas on v.2.4+ are not shown in this walk-through, but the premise of where to go is the same. Just see where I am going and try to find a similar path. This is not a coin guide btw.
This video shows how to beat the level without skipping any of the areas. It also showcases the intended way of beating all puzzles.

This map can be beaten in many different ways, even through skipping key items (like the crossbow). This was done deliberately because player-placed traps can disable a path if placed wrongly, so having an extra way means you don't have to restart the map.
Story spoilers: You found Brok in his ice throne room, but as it turns out he possesses the "hand of god", an item that makes him immortal. Seeing that your bolts did nothing to him, you flee. He then hunts you down using magic and throwing bolts of fire. You manage to barely escape by falling from a roof to the depths below (end of level).
