Let's Play Dwarf Fortress, where the enchanting land of Emaathira, The Everlasting Planes, gives us plenty of interesting places to embark. But none more appealing than Dorenkol, the Mirthful Valley at the base of an uninhabited mountain. There are settlements nearby, but is this some sacred land that no one wants to touch? Have we defiled a place that was supposed to be pristine, or are we destined to save the land from a 250 year rise of numerous necromancers.

Dwarf Fortress is a labor of love and one of the most sophisticated story generators in gaming today. And after over a decade of development, it has stormed onto Steam with both graphics and music! Yes, I'm serious. Honestly, the ASCII stuff was always very well done and, at least for me, easy enough to understand. But with the barrier of entry much lower there's no reason not to strike the earth once more. Let's succeed at finding the fun.
