This tutorial is for Dwarf Fortress Premium Edition (aka Steam Edition) and is about the first priorities when establishing a new fortress, food and shelter. I was also intending to give a more in-depth discussion of stone and wood, but, as will often happen in this game, things went sideways. Priorities changed when a giant bull moose showed up and began stomping the livestock and the dwarves into a fine paste.

The tutorial still covers those things, as well as some other subjects that arose out of necessity.
