Dying Light 2: Stay Human takes place 15 years after the event of Harran and the world is ravaged by the zombie apocalypse, produced by Techland. Aiden is looking for his sister and ends up in a town that is about to explode as various factions battle for power. It is a worthy follow up to the first game. In the role of Aiden Caldwell, a drifter roaming the ruins of the old world, you find yourself in the city of Villedour, one of the last settlements, in search of your long-lost sister. While the city has many safe zones across its residential and downtown areas, it's also a giant powder keg as two factions fight for control. All the while, hordes of infected zombies and mutants keep ratcheting up the pressure, hinting at a greater threat at work.
So far I find Dying Light 2: Stay Human as good as its predecessor and I feel the Dying Light franchise is some of the best zombie games out there. The game does not take itself too seriously considering the weapons and the zombies. During the day the zombies are not much of a threat but nightfall is a whole new ball game. The infected are stronger and faster and the virals come out at night. Aiden, our protagonist, gets bitten by a viral at the beginning of the game.. Most of the upgrade materials and best loot can be found at night. There are no guns or ammo but somehow, fuel and batteries still exist.
The missions are long so I find it easier to stream on Twitch (ferrariking1955) it than just upload to my YouTube channel. When you are a noob like me the game can get slightly difficult but nothing you or I cannot handle.
The worst part of this game is the freezing, low frame rates and characters and objects appearing and disappearing. So far I have not experienced any crashes and I hope it stays that way.
I enjoyed the parkour which of course can be a bit over the top and since Aiden was bitten by a viral he does not have the stamina he once had.
Unlike the first Dying Light, Dying Light 2 allows you to make choices that may affect the game and your interactions with the people. I am not sure how there are no guns but batteries, flashlights, generators, and fuel still exist and work. It is not that difficult to make the gun powder or the ammo and keep the guns in working order but that would make the game too easy. Guns will not work very well against the faster night time zombies or the virals coming at you in great number.
I find Dying Light 2: Stay Human does have a lot of moral ambiguity while you deal with the people and factions. Most seem to only have their interests in mind not others.
The bugs can make this game frustrating as you play because the last thing you want as you are recording or just enjoying it on your own is for the game to crash. If you are live streaming and a game crashes, your live stream is over unless you are one of the lucky ones that have money for special software to all your viewers to have a screen to look at while you fix technical issues but so far this game has froze for a few seconds, had people and things appear and disappear and such but no crashes. I pray to the gaming gods it stays that way.
In my opinion Dying Light 2: Stay Human is worth anyone's time and I am sure Techland will iron out all the bugs in time. I hope you enjoyed this review.
