Gameplay "Throwing Knife Potentials"
- Knife throwing ladies are always awesome and ♥.
We got the lovely Sakuya from Touhou who can stop time and throw knifes!
Then Cheria appears in ToGF who can do both AND cast Indignation!
When I learned Yuanji in DW7 is a Throwing Knife user, I knew she would be my favorite lady to use in the game (Zhou Tai is my favorite for males).
Now this is where the tricky part comes in...
Anyone who tried using Throwing Knife the first time immediately notice two things:
- No stagger properties when you hit them
- Low Damage
These two things make it easy for generals or any enemy to hurt you before you can hurt them. Hence, really made people thought it sucks or an very awful weapon to use.
Main reason why Throwing Knife is used is to build up Musou since it builds up extremely fast (probably the fastest in the game!
What most players don't notice (unless you're a heavy Throwing Knife user) are two things:
- High juggling capabilities (infinite juggle)
- Extreme damage when juggling (with C6)
This video, which shows Yuanji showing the potentials of using the Throwing Knife to the point that generals are pretty much dead (or have no chance of surviving). With Twin Swords (Weapon Switch allows you to instant return to your other weapon), Yuanji's juggling capabilities is just crazy.
"Knife Weapon Switch"
- Main starter since it stuns all enemies around you
- Then use Twin Swords Weapon Switch to return to Knife to start dealing damage. If you are in close range you'll automatically pop them in the air to start the juggle.
"C1"
- Not really a good one to use for starter unless you're close range to OTG an enemy for juggling.
"C2"
- Not great to use due to short range
"C3"
- Good stun ability if they don't block the attack.
- Great for finale combo ending since the damage will be pretty severe
"C4 with EX"
- Good Area Effect Damage
- Can combo into her Air Musou then her Ground Musou for some good Area Effect Damage
"C5"
- Good OTG if close range
"C6"
- Great for frontal AE damage
- Excellent for finale combo ending since the damage will be pretty severe
Anyone with 3 Stars Capability can use the Throwing Knife to full potential since it allows you to "Jump Cancel". This allows you to instantly cancel your current attack to jump (either to escape from an enemy's musou or get close to continue the juggle with the Knife).
There are a two ways to follow up after C3 or C6 in the juggle:
- "Jump Cancel Forward" to "Ground Attack 1-3x"
This should enough to keep the enemy in the air while you get even close to continue the juggle with another of "Jump Cancel Forward" (if you're still too far away to continue a C6) or C6.
- "Jump Cancel Up" to "Air Normal 1-2x" to "Ground Attack 1-2x"
This only works in close range but much safer for close range situation especially against the wall since "Jump Cancel Forward" can screw up your targeting and you won't be able to see where the enemy is if you jump past them (camera detection).
Anyone who seen me play on my stream know how crazy I use this..
Hopefully it helps those who think the weapon sucks know how good it can be!
So that's the main reason why it doesn't have stagger properties on its normal attacks.. because if it does this weapon would be too overpowered.
