- Analysis:
• Deng Ai on horseback is good, but far from best. With 8 XL Cyclone mechanic adjustment, Slash + Thunder are now the two forms of fraction element that he can work with. The main appeal of his Horse Charge (HC) offense is because of his weapon property ignores block. By purposefully losing an Affinity matchup, Deng Ai's HC has a better chance to OHKO a non-flinchable officer, allowing him to land a "more accurate" HC on to his targets for a OHKO (0:45, 0:50, etc.; there is that, plus the fact that Thunder in-game mechanically requires targets to be grounded for the fraction damage to work).

• For Deng Ai's HC to yield best result, he has to lose Affinity matchups and that means sacrificing safety and the ability to manipulate playable officer AI on horseback. Similar to Ding Feng's HC, Deng Ai's HC also has six elements, but unlike Ding Feng, Deng Ai activates five elements to his right and one to his left. However, the benefit to his setup is that he has both Slash + Thunder aiding his offense, just less accurate forms of element compared to Cyclone due to RNG.

• Deng Ai's HC has a hitbox, but it is very narrow. It is very linear and precise, meaning that it becomes even less accurate if he or the his target moves around (though for safety reasons, HC while moving is best). HC will sometimes appear blockable this is because of the Whirlwind he generates while attacking. Generic officer AI can be manipulated to be docile regardless of Affinity but will require Horse String (HS) ahead of time to force block.

• Deng Ai's HC vs Ding Feng's HC against enemy playable officers: Enemy playable officer will jump on sight if the player has a losing Affinity matchup (4:50; Zhou Tai). Due to playable officer AI conflicting with Deng Ai's HC strategy, Deng Ai will often be forced to switch into a weapon with neutral/positive Affinity matchup. This hurts both his offense and safety since his HC will lift and trigger Musou-counters. In a playable pileup, Deng Ai cannot face check that many Affinity matchups at once and will be forced to enter Rage to neutralize them. However, with HC prone to Musou-counter and the inability to use Horse Musou for safety during Rage; one, a Musou-counter might kill him, or two, waste Rage time to dodge Musou-counter when this is the only time for him to be on the offensive. If Deng Ai chooses to stick with a losing Affinity matchup, it is very likely that he will get JA to death. Either way, his safety is compromised, just one choice is less bad than the other.

- Movesets:
• Horse Charge (HC) is main offense. A HC to a losing Affinity matchup will nail a OHKO if pin-pointed correctly. While impressive, his clear speed for a stage often comes short of Ding Feng, Ma Chao and Cai Wenji because this strategy will eventually hit a wall (+ slow Rage refill). If KO counts are a factor in clear speed, Deng Ai will lose even more time doing so as he has a slower time getting KO counts.

• Horse String (HS) despite attacking one-side and possessing a decently high weapon base Attack of 68, his damage is not good. However, HS is still his best way of netting KO counts for a stage. Use Weapon 1 (Induction + Explosive) for best HS damage.

- Option(s):
• Both of Deng Ai's weapon are different. Weapon 2 is a full element with Slash + Thunder that is specifically designed to KO officers with a "losing Affinity" strategy. Triumph is needed as Deng Ai utilizes Rage defensively more so than his other horseback peers. Weapon 1 has Slash + Induction + Explosive that are meant to strengthen his HS for KO counts, but also against officers that he cannot use the "losing Affinity" strategy (or if he uses Rage on horse). With Weapon 1 setup and possessing the highest weapon base Attack, this will allow him to deal as much damage as possible to lifted targets. Keep in mind that Thunder becomes unreliable as soon as targets are lifted from the ground. I have tested Frost with his HC and it is inconsistent. Characters deal ~10% more damage with positive Affinity matchups, so use this to his advantage to deal more damage when he cannot use the "losing Affinity" strategy.
