E34: HOW TO BEAT VALENTINA & GET THE LAZY SHELLS | Super Mario RPG Wii U | The Basement
15Welcome to The Basement, let's play Super Mario RPG on Wii U! Today we'll beat Valentina (& Dodo one-on-one). We'll also get the Lazy Shell weapon as well as get the Lazy Shell armor.

In today's episode (Ep 34), we encounter a boss battle that gives a lots of players trouble: Valentina. When you fight Valentina, Dodo takes one member of your party aside for a one-on-one battle. We used Bowser for this fight and he handled Dodo quite well.

Valentina/Dodo
At the start of this battle with Valentina, Dodo will come grab the middle character in your lineup (Bowser) and bring them away from Valentina to another area to fight. Have Bowser just do timed regular attacks on Dodo. After you beat Dodo, he'll fly back to Valentina and you'll see the battle with Valentina, Mario, and the Princess. Have Mario use timed regular attacks while the Princess attacks or heals when needed. After a couple rounds of battle with Valentina and Dodo, Bowser will return, making it a 3-on-2 fight! Just keep attacking Valentina and ignore Dodo because beating him here doesn't help much except that he won't attack if you beat him again. Keep on fighting until Valentina and Dodo fly away, defeated.
Since you should now have the Seed and Fertilizer in your inventory, you can now unlock the Lazy Shell weapon and the Lazy Shell army! Head back to Rose Town and go all the way to the north end. You will find a new path leading to a second area. Enter the house there and talk to the Gardener to give him the two items, causing a giant beanstalk to grow up to where the Lazy Shells are. Go outside and climb it to reach an area in the clouds above. There, hit both chests to receive Lazy Shell (Weapon) and Lazy Shell (Armor). The Lazy Shell weapon is Mario's most powerful weapon, so equip it IMMEDIATELY! The Lazy Shell armor is very strong defensively but at the expense of attack power, so you might want to give it to Toadstool.

Boss: Valentina & Dodo
Dodo takes one member of your party for a one on one battle. You only have to deal just over a couple hundred before he runs away. After Dodo has been defeated you'll have to fight Valentina with the remaining two party members. This is definitely one of the hardest fights in the game. Valentina has a lot of attacks. Valentina has a weak physical attack you can just hope Valentina uses, and Valentina is quite fond of the Crystal attack which is Valentina's second weakest. The rest are spells that deal massive damage to your entire party. Those are Valentina's mid level attacks. The worst are: Light Beam, Aurora Flash and Petal Blast. To survive these you'll have to have prepared beforehand with some really good accessories. Soon enough Dodo will join the battle making it a full on fight to drain the remainder of both their HP totals. Valentina really is insanely hard.
Are you ready to get Mario's best weapon (Lazy Shell!)? Leave Nimbus Land and return to Rose Town and at the top of town you'll find a new path leading to the gardener's house. Speak to him and give him both the Seed and the Fertilizer so that he grows a giant beanstalk. Climb the beanstalk to find two chests, one containing the universal armor 'Lazy Shell' and then other containing Mario's weapon, the 'Lazy Shell.'
