In this video, we unbox what we thought was a decent deal on eBay that was, well, a little disappointing.

As an update to the video, the seller did offer and I accepted a partial refund of the shipping charges. I will not be leaving feedback however as I do feel he somewhat misrepresented the item.

Since starting up the channel I have really gotten onto aspects of the gaming hobby I never did before. I've revisited favorite classics like Legend of Zelda & Earthworm Jim. I've beaten games I had never beaten before such as Star Fox. I've met great people like Ryan from Castlemaniagames.com and John Riggs. But now instead of just revisiting my past, I have started to delve into areas I missed the first time around.

One such area has been the Sega Genesis, 32X, and Sega CD. I always wanted these, I even remember begging my parents to get me a CDX but to no avail. Well thanks to the support of our Patreons and all of our subscribers I finally pulled the trigger and picked up what I thought was a good deal off of eBay. Well, it wasn't all as advertised.

The listing stated:
"Lot comes with Sega Genesis model 2 console, Sega CD model 2 console, Sega 32x console, all hookups, 1 controller and 2 Sega CD games. Consoles show use with marks and scratches but they are still in decent condition. Game cds are a little scratched up but they work fine. Everything is used, tested, and works. Any questions please ask."

I should have asked questions. When I got the box I was shocked at the size, it seemed too small for sufficient packing materials around the system itself, and I was right. There was no packing around the console itself and the Genesis had been jostled around so much that it came disconnected from the CD. Ugh. The system was all scratched and knicked up, especially the back side. The AC Adapters included for the 32X and Sega CD weren't the OEM units. When I asked about the lack of disclosure regarding the non-OEM power supplies the seller responded:

"With the power supplies I don’t have to state if their original or not. "

No, he didn't, but it's the right thing to do. The photo made it difficult to tell whether the power supplies were original or aftermarket. Ugh again.

The contacts on the 32X show extreme signs of corrosion, ugh again. I am definitely going to have to take this thing apart to give it a thorough cleaning and refurbishment. Thankfully Brite Boy will be able to clean much of the system up.

At the end of the day I can at least say that I do own a Sega "Tower of Power", however, I'll be looking for broken systems or replacement cases for these to bring them up to snuff. If you are selling on eBay and charge a premium for shipping you need to provide a premium shipping job. I'm glad the seller refunded partial shipping fees due to his half-assed packing job but at the end of the day, I'm still disappointed in this transaction.
