Fundamentally, it is impossible to photograph a toy, scale model or figurine outdoors at night, and have both the figure (subject) and the night sky in focus. A large aperture of f/2.8 or wider is required to photography a night sky. So there's a need to shoot the foreground/subject frames and the skies separately then blend them together in photoshop.

This video is a simulation of the post processing work i've gone through to create this photo.
