Bout presents: Eight Man (Intro)

Eight Man is a side-scrolling beat 'em up arcade video game developed by Pallas and published internationally by SNK for both the Neo Geo MVS (arcade) and Neo Geo AES (home) platforms in 1991. It is based on Kazumasa Hirai's 1963 manga and anime superhero of the same name, who is considered one of the earliest cyborg superhero characters from Japan. Staying true to its concept of a crime-fighting super-robot, players take the role of 8 Man and his robo-comrade 9 Man respectively in a fight against an invading evil robot army.

Eight Man is a side-scrolling beat 'em up game where players control the cyborg superhero 8 Man (P1) and his former rival comrade 9 Man (P2), across ten stages that take place in a futuristic setting where a bio-computer system called Cyber is threatening mankind with his army of robots. During gameplay, players can only move between left and right in the levels, while enemies are fought with either the A or C button (which activates the character's special attack), in addition to the B button that serves for jumping and pressing it when holding the joystick down, the characters perform a slide movement. The levels are broken into different phases and some of them involve the players chasing a vehicle, while enemies are coming out to attack. Power-ups are also scattered along the way to be collected that will enhance the player's attacks, as well as granting screen-clearing bombs that damage all enemies in sight. After reaching the end of a level, a boss must be fought in order to progress onto the next stage.

If a memory card is present, the player is allowed to save their progress and resume into the last stage the game saved at. It is a video game adaptation of the manga series with the same name. The story and setting in the game largely remains true to series as Eight Man fight robots, cyborgs, zombies, and other futuristic machinery -although it doesn't feature any of the series's villains.

The game uses three of the four default buttons of the Neo-Geo. A is used for a basic punch, B is used for jumping and C is used for specials (or bomb attack). Pressing A and B together releases a spinning kick and holding down and B allows players to slide–movement is mostly limited to left or right. The first player plays as 8 Man while second player uses his crime fighting partner, 9 Man.

There is a total of four stages to play though and each stage is divided into segments to lengthen gameplay. At times, the game includes simple platform jumping. The game's unique level, a scene where Eight Man is constantly running at high speeds down a highway, is interwoven throughout the game.

Super Robot05 (aka Five Man) – An android 0 performed the same experiment as Eight Man. Taller and more muscular version of the hero who fights with a similar bomb attack.

Hurry Scuary – Formerly a scientist who implanted his brain in a large green battleship. He projects an image of his human self on a monitor around the ship's hull.

Kozuma – A human cyborg with a half-metallic appearance. It attacks with lighting bolts.

Cyborg – A large robot that nearly finished its construction. Players have to destroy its floating head.

Specter - The last boss of the game, it has no official name. Skeletal and floating remnant of Cyborg's soul that escapes after his head explodes. Can attack with twin lanterns and a swirling fireball attack.
