Bout presents: Robo Army (Intro)

Robo Army is a beat 'em up video game developed and published by SNK that was released for Neo Geo arcades and home consoles in 1991 and the Neo Geo CD in 1995.

There is no character selection in Robo Army: Player 1 controls Maxima and Player 2 controls Rocky. Both cyborgs must cross six levels before reaching the end boss. During these levels, they will face the Professor's henchmen, as well as the sub-boss and boss in each stage. The two heroes can of course fight with their fists and feet, but they can also defend themselves by collecting improvised weapons (car carcass, barrel, destroyed robot arm). They each have a power gauge allowing them to launch powerful attacks according to the power gained. Maxima and Rocky can also be transformed for a brief moment into an invulnerable armored vehicle.

The military robots developed by Dr. Fron Jeed destroys evil organizations one after another with their overwhelming power. It is 20XX A.D., and the world is regaining peace. However, suddenly, a few months after the doctor and his daughter Fron Tia were kidnapped by someone and disappeared, a bizarre robot army appeared in Neo Detroit...

The military robot regular army's response was completely lightning-free, and a few hours later Neo Detroit was in the hands of the enemy. They called themselves "Hell Jeed" and slaughtered the citizens. They began manufacturing armed robots with the brain removed. Their purpose was to 'construct an utopia (ideal town) only for robots'.

The United Nations gives great importance to the situation and requests the super-elite unit "64th Air Division Robo Army" led by Captain Rocky of Military Robo No. 1 to suppress and destroy the Hell Jeed Corps. You must stop the ambitions of Hell Jeed by becoming Maxima and Captain Rocky, two of the 100 Robo Army troops rushing into Neo Detroit. I wish you good luck.

Robo Army plays like a typical side-scrolling beat 'em up game. Button A is used to throw punches–with the player performing a small combo by mashing it and finishing the enemies with a powerful blow. Players can also pick up large objects like oil drums, wrecked cars and even pieces of fallen enemies, which can then be thrown at enemies.

The B button is used to jump, though there is a small delay between pressing it and the character executing the jump due to them ducking then launching themselves into the air. The C button is used to launch a limited used special attack which consumes the power gauge; the more the player uses it the weaker the attack becomes, with the characters launching a screen-filling attack at max power, a long range fireball at medium power and a close range blast at low power.
