I'm not gonna touch the story or the writing.
People of different ages and backgrounds play video games, and what appeals to a younger audience can feel cringe to older ones for example.
So that aside, I'll write my honest opinions only about the rest of it:
ECR is a very easy game. If you're looking for a pretty and casual experience, then there you have it. Sit back and enjoy the infinite cutscenes and enemies that try their best to kill you, just like a Caterpie would to a Charizard.
That aside, the game has plenty of charm, kinda like Octopath Traveler.
Meaning that you don't need a game to be difficult or challenging in order to have a good time.
In my case the game took me back to my MMO years when everything was simple and you bounce from one quest to another. It has a sense of comfiness to it.
Combat is pretty shallow. Most of the time it's just a two button spam.
So if you're looking for sick gameplay that'll get you hooked you better move on.
None of these bosses took more than 3 attempts to no-hit. There's no real boss design here, just simple patterns to react to on cue.
The eye candy and casual-ness of ECR are very likely what would you enjoy the game. Chill games are fun in small doses, for some only chill games are fun and that's fine too.
