Elderly resident dead after fire at Victorian retirement village

An elderly man who a unit fire in a retirement village the north of Melbourne was moved to the property three weeks ago only with his wife. Police confirmed that the fire burning from the two units in Kilmore in Kilmore was not treated as a suspicious. The 78 -year -old man's body was found in the unit, which was partially destroyed by the police early this morning. Fire destroyed houses in a Kilmore Emeklilik village. Inspector Jaymee Cutler said his wife managed to escape from physically damaged fire. "His wife is clearly shocked," he said to journalists. A couple living in a second unit completely destroyed in the fire managed to escape without damage. The man's body was found inside by researchers. After the fire started at 6 am, more than 22 emergency service vehicles were called to the village. About 40 people evacuated themselves before the firefighters came to the scene. The village residents told 9news that they heard a "a big explosion" at the time of the fire. "Very frightening because I thought my house would definitely go," he said. The fire was announced under control at 7.13, but firefighters were still extinguishing a part of the fire and darkening hot points at 8 am. In a retirement village in Kilmore, dozens of firefighters were called to the scene. Police and medical officials were also called for fire. The arson detectives stayed at scene in most of the day and they still understand how fire started.
