Elemental Animation Test | StoryBoards | 3D Animation Internships
Making animated movies often times requires world building and Pixar Elemental was no exception. Luckily I love world building! This was a pitch I did to illustrate how all four elements may exist harmoniously, in a cycle where they give to one another and receive from one another.
EDIT: I mistakenly wrote CO2 instead of O2. More reason it was good I stayed away from the sciences.

BRAINSTORMING!!! There was so much to brainstorm on Elemental and it usually involved utilizing the elemental qualities of the characters. This was part of a brainstorm about Ember and Wade dating. We generate tons of ideas like this along the way, and most of them (hopefully for good reason) never get used. It’s all part of the process of creating and finding the story.

Firstly I don’t usually animate this much for StoryBoards but I had specific ideas about choreography and timing I was trying to express, and I was having fun trying come up with mishaps as Ember tries to dodge other elements. Of course the layout, timing, and action changed as the shot got further along the pipeline, but the spirit of the idea stayed the same.
