FSS - Full Spectral System
To activate the Full Spectrum System Scanner, you will need to ensure two controls have been bound correctly:
Options - Controls - Mode Switches - Switch HUD Mode - will show you what default binding has been switch cockpit modes. If you're using a custom binding file, then you will need to set this before you can enter Analysis Mode which activates any scanners fitted to your ship
Options - Controls - Full Spectrum System Scanner - Enter FSS Mode - will show you what default binding has been set to enter FSS. If you're using a custom binding file, then you will need to set this before you can enter the mode

DSS - Detailed Surface Scanner
To use the planet probes you must ensure your ship is fitted with a Detailed Surface Scanner. Once fitted, assigned it to a fire group, switch to Analysis Mode, and then hit the fire button it's assigned to. You will also need to be in close proximity to a stellar body. Pressing the fire button once more will fire a probe.
