Elite Dangerous 3.3.01: desperately trying to disable megaship turrets (2)
5I was unable to complete the mission.
I dunno, am I doing it right? I must be! The mission description seems straightforward enough: blow those power conduit thingies to power down turrets.
- Why do they look and blow up like explosive barrels from some early 90s game?
- Who was the genius putting them on the outer hull?
These are excellent questions. I don't have any answers for you. :)
Had some help in the beginning in the form of NPC raiders also attacking the ship. Poor guys/gals, they didn't stand a chance against that massive NPC authority force (shooting one of them just brings two more to the instance). They were counting on me to bring those turrets down, and I've failed them... :(
Naturally, at some point the game froze for 10 seconds. Good thing everything else got frozen too, or I'd probably be in trouble.
I was wise enough this time around to not shoot any authority ships. Lesson learned, don't want those cheating ATRs on me, not to mention you can never get rid of defending ships, more of them just keeps coming.
Seriously, in the end getting some low value cargo or materials from the ship is just not worth all the trouble. FDev should make it possible to expropriate something REALLY valuable, otherwise there's no point.
