To enable a beta version of a game on Steam, follow these general steps. Keep in mind that the exact wording and menu options might vary slightly depending on the game and the Steam client version.
Open Steam: Launch the Steam client on your computer.
Go to your Library: Click on "Library" at the top of the Steam window.
Find the Game: Locate the game you want to access the beta for in your library list.
Right-Click: Right-click on the game's name in your library.
Select Properties: Choose "Properties..." from the context menu.
Go to Betas Tab: In the Properties window, click on the "Betas" tab.
Select Beta: You'll see a dropdown menu (sometimes labeled "Select the beta you would like to opt into:"). Click on it.
Choose Beta: From the dropdown, select the beta version you want to join. If there's no beta available, the dropdown might be empty, or the game might not have a "Betas" tab at all. Sometimes you need a beta access code, which you'd enter in a field near the dropdown.
Close Properties: Close the Properties window.
Game Update (if needed): Steam will usually start downloading the beta version of the game automatically. If it doesn't, you might need to manually update the game.
Important Considerations:
Beta Availability: Not all games have beta programs. If you don't see a "Betas" tab or any beta options, the game likely doesn't offer a public beta.
Beta Codes: Some betas require a code to access. If this is the case, you'll usually find instructions on how to obtain the code (often through the game's website, forums, or social media).
Stability: Beta versions are often still in development and might have bugs or be less stable than the released version.
Opting Out: To leave a beta program, follow the same steps and select "None" or a similar option in the beta dropdown menu. This will revert your game to the regular released version.
