The Nvidia RTX 5070, initially slated for a February launch, is now rumored to be delayed until early March, according to leaker MEGAsizeGPU. While Nvidia only stated "February availability," the delay could be to bolster stock levels, especially after the RTX 5080 and 5090 launches saw immediate sell-outs and ongoing shortages.
Another factor could be AMD's RX 9070 and 9070 XT GPUs, also now launching in early March. AMD's delay, attributed to performance optimization and FSR 4 integration, may have prompted Nvidia to adjust its own timing. A March launch allows the RTX 5070 to share the spotlight with its AMD competitors.
This delay likely gives Nvidia time to build up inventory. However, changing the RTX 5070's announced $549 MSRP seems unlikely, though not entirely impossible, given Nvidia's past actions (like the RTX 4080 12GB's cancellation and rebranding). A price cut before launch, while improbable, remains a possibility.
