ending theme: inspired by toe. most of the album placed a focus on melody and progression, so i wanted this one to be all about the percussion (for the most part). it feels very "serious" and "final"--the intent with the distorion heavy parts is to anolog what it feels like processing grief. in other words, this one is: "it's time to let go of the nostalgia that protects you so you can live life with an open heart". the climax feels like you're sprinting towards the future.
this one is very obviously inspired by toe's "goodbye". i learned a lot about drum programming and i also learned drum programming melts my dang brain. :P but it's pretty different than anything i've really made before for that reason, so i really like it.
im still struggling to stay in the "present" moment in lieu of getting swept up by nostalgia. i think these things are sort of a process, but im making more strides to better myself this year so far than the last, where i just sorta wallowed and stewed in between work.
in the end, "look back" is a message to myself to cherish the good parts of the past, but to not give up on the present, because the future might have something good to offer. choosing life instead of death and all that. i want to explore that thread more in march with me/other albums, so for now, im passionate about sticking around and trying my best :)

the next project will be a deltarune pop rock album focused on anger/regret. it'll be a lot of high energy bops with a darker edge. see you then, i'll do my best to complete it quickly~
