'Littleroot Town' / 'Route 101' (Indie Rock Remix) from Pokémon Ruby, Sapphire & Emerald / Emdasche
yo! it's been a while :)
i'm working on a hoenn indie rock album exploring the theme of 'nostalgia' from various angles. pokemon sapphire was my first video game; it taught me how to read, gave me my obsession of video game music, of pokemon, of japanese art aesthetics, helped me make the only irl friends i still have in my life to this day . . . it's no exaggeration to say it put me on the path to becoming the weird freak nerd i am today. with these arrangements, i want to tribute my home away from home while sharing how sentimental the original songs make me feel. the tracks will take inspo from bands i love like cao dong, kinokoteikoku, fermenting dregs, the pillows, etc. the concept for littleroot/route 101 is 'a longing, emo nostalgia'--the bitter-sweetness associated with looking back to a simpler past, and the catharsis that comes from letting go.
it's gonna take me longer than anticipated to finish the full album (i'm aiming for 9-12 songs), because i want to do what i can to avoid the possibility of looking back on these arrangements someday in embarrassment. but since im impatient and don't want emdasche to die in the mean-time, i decided to post one of the completed works early. im thinking i'll release two more of the songs in the coming months to promote the album until all the tracks are ready. i hope you'll wait warmly while i plug away at them :3
in the mean-time, i'll probably be streaming progress on the album occasionally on this channel. tune in if ur interested it's a chill time~
~~~~ok about to be Vulnerable in this next bit don't mind me 😗😜🙇♂️~~~~~
i apologize a lot for this, but i'll do it one last time: sorry for the inactivity these past couple years. histrobea's ost, moving out on my own for the first time, then the second, then the third time, my mental health, and my physical health have really taken a toll on me. basically, life as it is prone to do has Happened A Lot lately. im envisioning this album as a potential 'goodbye' to emdasche, just in case i can't continue working on music into my 30s. making a creative career sustainable is actually for the unhinged. i persist because creating is my escape from reality, seemingly the only thing i can provide to the world of any value, and the ability to do so effectively consequently plays a huge role in dictating my sense of self-worth, but there's a real possibility my body won't be able to hold up. i'll keep aggravating my weak hands until they fall off, so until then, please bear with me! i have many projects i want to see realized (music and otherwise), if im able.
i started this channel under the name ElectricMudkip, 13 years ago at the age of 13 as of the 18th . . . i partially regret it, and that's also what this album is about--to try and make peace with the fact that i threw away so much time obsessing over something so niche out of a desire to feel special somewhere, which ended up hurting my body and stunting my emotional growth. if i can be truly proud of these arrangements, maybe i can be okay with the stupid decisions that led to their creation.
regardless, thanks a million for the kindness and support these past 13 years, i'd be lost without it fr lol 💛 💛 💛
