Enhanced Game MIDIs: "Southern Shrine" from Zelda: Link's Awakening
My Enhanced Game MIDI collection consists of MIDI files I sequenced and routed through my Yamaha Motif ES8 keyboard, utilising its rather nice-sounding General MIDI samples. The staff view was played with Cakewalk Express and the presentation was recorded with CamStudio. All instruments use the standard MIDI patches unless otherwise noted. To follow the notes in the sequence and to ensure the best sound quality, viewing full screen in 720p (HD) is strongly advised.
The Southern Shrine, also known as the Southern Face Shrine, is where this melancholy melody plays in The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening. It is where Link obtains the Face Key for "Level 6: Face Shrine" and learns the truth about the island of Koholint.
This MIDI was sequenced originally in 1999. To enhance the sound, I took the same approach as with Color Dungeon, using instruments in place of the square waves.
