Enhanced WhatsApp Privacy & Status Updates: New Features Revealed!
WhatsApp is gearing up to enhance user privacy and engagement with upcoming updates, as revealed by recent beta builds. Among the anticipated changes is the extension of the locked chats feature to linked devices, ensuring sensitive conversations remain protected across all connected devices.
Currently, WhatsApp's locked chats feature is limited to the primary device, potentially leaving sensitive conversations exposed on linked devices. With the impending update, users will have the ability to safeguard their conversations on all linked devices by creating a secret code within the chat lock settings of their primary phone.
The introduction of this feature, spotted in the WhatsApp Beta for Android 2.24.8.4 update, addresses a critical privacy concern and provides users with greater control over their conversations.
In addition to chat privacy enhancements, WhatsApp is also testing a new feature that allows users to privately mention specific contacts in their status updates. This functionality, discovered in the WhatsApp Beta for iOS 24.7.10.71, aims to foster engagement by notifying mentioned contacts privately.
Unlike Instagram's story mentions, which are visible to others, WhatsApp's private mentions ensure that only the mentioned contact receives a notification, maintaining confidentiality.
While these updates are still in development, users can anticipate their widespread availability on Android and iOS platforms in the near future.
