Entropia Universe: Understanding Armor Plates, How They Work & How To Find Out Damage Being Taken!

Today we want to talk all about armor plates! We will be looking at the AP line but we can use this information for all armor plates in game; including Pulsar plates.
Different plates provide different protections: Cut, Stab, Impact, Burn, Shrapnel, Cold, Acid, Electric. We want to be sure and match the protections we use to the types of damage the mob will be dealing.
Next we look at durability; the higher the durability the longer the plate will last.
Limited plates provide full protection at all times but can NOT be repaired. Unlimited plates can be repaired but the protection decreases over time.
Before we can figure out which armor plate to use we need to know how much protection we need. First we find out the type of protection we need based on the type of attack the mob does. Let's assume we knew the mob did 100% electric damage.
Now we simply let the mob attack us and we look at how much damage we take per hit. As we take damage we will see that it's close to the same amount each time. This tells us how much protection we will need and what would be considered too much and too little.
If we are consistently getting hit for 8-15 damage then there is no need for 36 protection; we would be wasting half of it. But 5 protection would not be enough. We need an armor plate that can protect somewhere in the middle of the range for the damage we are taking.
In this case we would want an AP-12 Plate. Not too much protection, and not too little. But now we also need to look at armor to see how much protection the base armor provides.
Ghost armor already protects for about 12 so there would be no need to put any additional plates on Ghost armor in this scenario. However Ascension armor doesn't provide any protection at all in this case so we could add the AP-12 Electric plates for proper protection.
Why would we do this when Ghost would be fine by itself? Since Ascension doesn't protect against electric it will take no decay; only the plates would provide protection and take decay. In this case we could use the armor itself for its special skill gain buff while using the plates for the protection we desire.
Knowing how to find out the proper protection you need and then matching that with proper armor and plates is a real game changer and will make a HUGE difference in how you play and what your defense costs are.
