Someone recommended this to me and when I researched it up I saw so many people praising this game. I got me super excited. I was hyped to check it out. The graphics are super simple, like something in between the NES and Atari 2600. It's certainly low pixel. It's not bad looking, it's certainly unique, but that's not really its selling point. Or maybe it is. The music is very atmospheric and really does fit world. The controls are not my favorite. they feel a little stiff. they aren't bad, per se, but they could have definitely been improved a bit. Your gun doesn't attack the full screen. It's kinda like a sword that shoots out and retracts. So combat is played close to you. There is enemy variety in appearance, but all of their behavior is the same. As soon as they agro they just home in on you and then sit on you. You are very much slower than most enemies so running isn't a great option. It gets stale pretty quickly. Even the bosses get in on the action. Some bosses are better than others, but most are just okay. Over the course of the game you get a bunch of collectibles, some are helpful and some are actually pretty neat and make moving around much better. You can also turn them on and off, which is cool. Hell there are even puzzles that require you to. Speaking of that's kinda the cool thing about this game. The puzzles and mysteries in this are freaking cool. Hell I even had to "translate" some clues. It was a clever idea. Which led to even more secrets to uncover and some neat bosses. The world is cool and there is some variety to environments. There's a ton of exploration and the map is helpful. It also tells you when you picked up a secret item. Very helpful. But the cool puzzles don't make up for everything else being kind of lackluster. It's not a bad game, but it's not the amazing game I was promised. It had some cool challenges, whether they were platforming or fights, and I do appreciate that. Enjoy my blind playthrough.
