In-depth PC game review of Shogo: Mobile Armor Division by Monolith Productions in 1998. For Windows 9x. Shogo: MAD is heavily influenced by popular Japanese anime, such as Gundam, Evangelion and Appleseed. The game runs under the first iteration of Monolith's in-house game engine: Lithtech.

Players take the role of Sanjuro, a commander in the United Corporate Authority (UCA) army, during a war for the planet Cronus and its precious ore, kato. Prior to the game's first level, Sanjuro had lost his brother, Toshiro; his best friend, Baku; and his girlfriend, Kura, during the war. He is now driven by revenge and his romantic relationship with Kathryn, Kura's sister; in Sanjuro's words, "It's kinda complicated."

Will there be a "Shogo 2"? Who knows? For now, you can download Shogo from GOG.com.

The opening song for Shogo: MAD is Negai (Wish) by Nemoto Miho.

Era Game Reviews, is more than just reviews of older PC games from the 90's. The in-depth reviews not only discuss the basics like the graphics and gameplay, but also looked into the game's history, mods, culture and community.
