Review of Retro/Grade, a rhythm game with elements of bullet-hell and shoot 'em up games. This was created by 24 Caret Games; originally as a PS3 exclusive via the PlayStation Network, then released on Steam.

While Retro/Grade looks like a regular shoot 'em up, time is flowing backwards. You must un-fire attacks to the beat of the music while avoiding enemy fire in order to save the space/time continuum. Think of a cross between Guitar Hero and Touhou. How will RetroGrade hold up in the PC gaming market?

The Initiative is a review and analysis series on newly-released PC games. The series will show my first impressions of the gameplay and features at face value, and analyze its longevity in the market and community.
