[Escape] #3 - Elevator || Virtue's Last Reward (Interactive, 100%)
Part 3 of my interactive 100% playthrough of Virtue's Last Reward on the Nintendo 3DS.
In this part, we solve all the puzzles in the first room, the Elevator!
In this game, each room has two solutions: the first one will give you the green password, which will give you the key to escape the room, along with a few other goodies. The second solution, which is usually a bit harder to get, will give you the blue password, awarding you with a secret file. You'll get a gold file if you clear the room in Hard difficulty, or a silver file, which only has half the contents of a gold file, if you clear the room on Easy. The passwords are always a combination of 3 symbols along a 3x3 grid, and you always enter them on a safe. The passwords are randomly generated when you begin a new save file. That means you can't use the passwords I get in my playthrough for your own. It just won't work.
In this particular room, the red card boots up the screen, the green card gives you the green password, and the blue card, the blue password. Since I inserted the blue card before the red one, I got the two passwords one after the other.
Here are a few tips to solve the puzzles :
—— Babies & Old People ——
Ok, this is a very basic puzzle, but the way it's put in the game mixes stuff so much you'll probably be confused on your first time. Basically, you only need to grab the poster, count the number of babies and old people, and input these numbers on the appropriate side of the elevator. Here are the three things that will very likely mess you up.
1. Which ones are babies/old people and which ones are not?
Only obvious ones should be counted. Babies are always in diapers and can't walk on two feet. Old people all have white hair. If they don't , they're not old enough.
2. The text at the bottom of the poster
Another thing that can confuse you is the small text at the bottom of the poster: "Life would be infinitely happier if we could be born at the age of 80 and gradually approach 18". This particular phrase might give you the idea to reverse your numbers or something along those lines, but you don't need to do that. It's only there to confuse you.
3. The lack of feedback
After inputing what you think are the good numbers, you get... nothing. Nothing to say if you're right or wrong. This is normal. Nothing's supposed to happen before you input a number on all 3 button locations.
After inputing the number of old people (7) and babies (4) on their respective panels, you must input something in the rabbit panel. The two possible answers there are 0 (because the rabbit's name is Zero), and 3 (because the rabbit is Zero III). Doing so will net you the blue and red memory cards respectively.
—— The Sliding Puzzle ——
After removing the grate under the rabbit's pannel, you are greeted with a sliding puzzle. You know, the kind of puzzle where you need to slide a block to a certain point, and it won't stop moving until it hits an obstacle? Yeah, this kind of puzzle. To solve it, you'll need a bit of patience and some clever thinking. You need to get the green block at the top-left of the screen to the blue opening at the bottom-right. Keep in mind though that the red blocks moves too. Those can block you, but they also can be used to help you progress forward. Once the puzzle is solved, you'll get the green memory card.
