Escape From the Darkness | DAV Pack 1 | No Failure Run
EFTD's a bit of a funny creature. It's trying to be this sorta semi-tactical thing, still keeping most of HL1's weapons, while also having damage values heightened for both you and the enemy. The 9mmhandgun (here a Desert Eagle), can pretty much sandblast enemies the moment you put a couple rounds through them, even on Hard.
The caveat? Weapons start off inaccurate. I'm not sure the specific granularities are, but I know at the very least that crouching makes it significantly better in all regards. Some weapons also aren't a thing anymore. Most of them are still spawnable, and you can kinda use them, but they lack custom assets. There are some new weapons to cover the gap, like the suppressed M10 and the AKS-74U, but it's not enough. I suppose it's possible to cobble up an addon to fill the blanks, but that might take a while.
For now, a run with the default stuff. DAV Pack was an interesting test to sort out both the advantages and limitations of EFTD. Took me a while to wirejam the second map because EFTD just doesn't like anything that spawns enemies. No monstermakers, no ospreys. That's pretty much why the chopper at the end of the map is instead an apache. Probably should've used a monster_generic or something and then reference the osprey model, but I couldn't be bothered.
