ESET NOD32 Antivirus for Linux on Ubuntu 16.04 - how to install. Worth use it?
119Have you ever wondered whether antivirus is needed on Linux? If so, then I will show you how to install one of the most popular antivirus - ESET NOD32 Antivirus for Linux.
Most Linux users are certainly not familiar with any antivirus. Are they needed I do not know, do not decide about it. After all, I decided to install ESET NOD32 Antivirus on Linux Ubuntu 16.04 LTS 'Xenial Xerus', which I started with virtualization in VirtualBox - hence I apologize for the system laggering.
1. Go to https://www.eset.com/int/home/antivirus-linux/#download
2. Select the program you want to download x86 or x64 and then download to disk.
3. Once downloaded in the console, use "chmod + x" on the file, or simply right-click on the file and select the properties and then give it permission to execute.
4. Double click on the file to launch it. If it does not start or an error occurs - it means that we do not have all the necessary libraries installed. In my case, the program indicated that 32bit libraries libc6-i386 and ld-linux.so were missing. In practice, only libc6-i386 should be installed. We can do this using Synaptic (like me) or using the console by typing sudo apt-get install libc6:i386
5. When we deal with libraries, we can run the application. Once launched, the program will prompt us for the root password. Once it has been submitted, the installer will run, which will guide us through the installation process. Once installation is complete, you must restart the system.
6. When we restart the system, the application will ask us for our license. If we have it, just give us the relevant data, if not, then we will use the trial version for free for 30 days.
7. From now on we can use the application and update the virus database.
Finally, at the end after installation in normal Ubuntu 16.04 (without virtualization), and the system itself has been updated since version 12.04 did not find a single virus. So is it worth to use antivirus on Linux? Please answer himself.

Większość z użytkowników Linuksa z pewnością nie korzysta z żadnego antywirusa. Czy są one potrzebne? Nie wiem, nie mnie o tym decydować. Mimo wszystko postanowiłem zainstalować ESET NOD32 Antivirus na Linuksie Ubuntu 16.04 LTS ‘Xenial Xerus’, którego uruchomiłem za pomocą wirtualizacji w programie VirtualBox - stąd przepraszam za laggowanie systemu.

2. Wybierz wersję programu, którą chcesz pobrać x86 lub x64, następnie pobierz na dysk.

5. Kiedy uporamy się z bibliotekami, możemy uruchomić aplikację. Po jej uruchomieniu program poprosi nas o hasło root. Po jego podaniu, uruchomi się instalator, który przeprowadzi nas przez proces instalacji. Po zakończeniu instalacji trzeba uruchomić system ponownie.
6. Kiedy uruchomimy system ponownie, aplikacja zapyta nas o posiadaną licencję. Jeżeli ją mamy, wystarczy podać odpowiednie dane, jeżeli nie, wówczas skorzystamy z wersji trial, za darmo przez 30 dni.
7. Od teraz możemy korzystać z aplikacji i wykonać aktualizację bazy wirusów.
Na koniec dodam, że po instalacji w normalnym Ubuntu 16.04 (bez wirtualizacji), a sam system był uaktualniany od wersji 12.04 nie znalazł ani jednego wirusa. Czy zatem warto korzystać z antywirusów na Linuksie? Odpowiedzcie sobie sami.
