Esp Plays: Fallout 3 - Part 3 - The People of Megaton [No Commentary]
Journal entry #1: Night has come, and I decided the best thing to do was to find lodging for the night. This place, Megaton... The people here seem friendly, if a little guarded. Most of them don't seem to have answers to my questions, and the site of a "vault dweller" as they've taken to calling seems very foreign to them. Still, despite living in squalor and decay, they go on with their lives - and most of them seem happy with this existence. While asking around about my father, I found a few people around town who seemed to need my help; an eccentric shopkeeper, the old man who runs the water purification plant, and the town sheriff who's tasked me with disarming the undetonated nuke in the center of town. Not sure what I've gotten myself into with agreeing to disarm it for him, but I'm trying to teach myself as much about explosives as possible, as quickly as I can. I also came across a Mister Burke who actually wanted me to use the bomb for his own nefarious purposes of wiping out the entire town. After reporting him to the Sheriff, things got ugly. He drew a gun, but luckily I was able to pacify him, for lack of a better word. I told that man, Burke, that Megaton was under my protection. I think I said it just to try and scare him - but there's something about this place, about these people, that makes me want to help them. To protect them. I think I will... I've got a new lead on Dad. The saloon owner, an unsavory character by the name of Moriarty, has pointed me in the direction of a radio station known as Galaxy News Radio. So I'll be heading there soon. Before that, i think there may be others in and around town that need my help. Dad's the one that left - I'm sure he can take care of himself for a while. Me on the other hand... Well... I'm scribbling this down on some paper shards I found in the common house. My bed smells of something foul that could never have dreamed of making its way down into the vault. I tried to rent a room in the saloon, but my financial situation here on the surface is far from ideal. That being said, i doubt the bedding situation would've been a big improvement anyway. Well, it's late - I guess I better get some shut eye. Who knows what tomorrow holds in store for me in this strange, new place...
