Eve online, Tricks: Probe Scanning
0TL;DW - three words - "save current formation" ikr? after all these years i finally figure out that confusing third icon the dev blog never mentioned. I always assumed, iirc, that it was a broken feature they never iterated on.
Also, probes expire (go back to default, retract to cargo bay, after 67minutes)...the icon you hover over to find that expiry time starts flashing at 5minutes (no audio warning though even at 10s left)
Thanks to Marco for helping me discover the expiry tooltip faster than i would have normally, probably.
Anyways, this was my planned experiment about combat probing and it worked out so much better than i could ever have imagined
All i planned on doing was figuring out how to prevent my pattern from getting screwed up, over time, using my prior method plus any trick i could come up with...the whole custom pattern wasn't even a twinkle in my eye.
Btw, i had this hour and a half video but the recording bugged out on me. so this was the 2nd take.
FOLLOWUP: long as you don't quit the game your scanner can go to each system and have the probes remember their place without needing to fiddle, beyond selecting the particular custom pattern.
