An RPG-Adventure game obviously inspired by Mass Effect and the amazing Halo like universe. Everreach Project Eden is a worthy attempt at entering this genre while also in desperate need of optimization. But the question is “will that hold you back from everything this game has to offer”?

The story isn't overly complicated, Earth is overcrowded so mankind set off to find a new home and Planet Eden, a beautiful uninhabited planet free from the polluted Earth, is it. But something happened to the first settlement so you, Lieutenant Nora Harwood, with an elite task force have come from Earth to find answers and secure the colony. But instead you end up uncovering an ancient mystery. And now you must confront the real enemy of Planet Eden.

Gameplay is easily a mixed bag of views. On one hand it's addicting and fun and on the other hand, the controls are terrible and the game is horribly optimized. For example, checkpoints freeze for an excessively long time and it leaves you wondering if the game bugged out on you. Now I can't say if it does this on the Xbox version because this review was done for the PC version, but it was clearly an optimization problem. The lack of manual saves was extremely annoying as well because starting over at the beginning of a long checkpoint after every death wasn't enjoyable at all. Also the hit detection and AI needs some minor adjustments because headshots were literally hit or miss and enemies were walking into walls. But I still felt compelled to continue to play the game even with all the issues I had. The gameplay was just addicting and taking down drones was more than satisfying once I got the hang of it. I also got to ride a hoverbike around and solve puzzles to open boxes to upgrade my skill tree which was fantastic. So I just had to see each chapter through to the end and although it was a short adventure (about 7 hours in total) for me, I still felt rather satisfied.

For the most part, the graphics were fantastic, but I did have issues with the level of detail in the background because it was extremely blurry and finding your distant enemies was a real pain. The animations are also in need of a major overhaul as they make for some silly moving characters, but to be fair most of this can be easily patched. The scenery on the other hand was awesome. I loved the lush planet and environment and the level design was quite good as well. The soundtrack was decent too. I enjoyed the background music and the voice acting held up well for the most part.

I for one enjoyed Everreach Project Eden, but I can see that the lack of polish and optimization would be a huge turnoff for some gamers. So I’m giving this game a 5.5 out of 10, and I suggest picking this one up on sale if you can because unfortunately it’s not worth the $24.99 in the state that it’s in. It's available now on PC, Xbox One and sometime in 2020 for the Playstation 4 where I hope they work out many of the issues because this game has a lot of potential.
