ex-ČSD T478 Class Diesel Excursion at Smichov
Unfortunately, this video is too blurry to read the numbers on this unit (I'm thinking of retiring this camera as soon as I have the budget), but I thought this video was interesting enough to post. After doing some Internet research, I concluded that it's probably T478.1215, which has been recreated in virtual form for RailWorks and Dovetail Train Simulator.
These units were built by ČKD between 1964 and 1971, and later were reclassified as ČD Class 751 (I'm using Czech diacritics in this title and description, so if you see me using CD elsewhere, that's what I mean.). Many are still in service, although it's important to remember that ČD have separated this class, which had several variants, into the 751, 752, 753, 754, and 755 Classes. The 751 and 752 Classes are distinct only because the 752 Class (ex-T478.2) lacked steam heat, but the 753, 754, and (rebuilt) 755 Classes are today thought of as distinctive, both because they had a later production run (1968-1977 [1975-1980 for the 754]), and because they had a distinctive protruding windshield. The earlier 751 and 752 also are now considered to be the better locomotives due to higher durability and better fuel efficiency.
In any case, if you can confirm the number of the unit in the video, or give more details of this (apparent) excursion, I'll add them to this description.
