"Disconnect" is a Chrome add-on that is helping to stop websites likes Google, Facebook, Twitter, Yahoo, and more from tracking its users and selling their info to ad companies. Essentially, it disables all traffic from third-party sites to servers for Facebook/Google/etc but still allows you to access Facebook/Google. etc themselves. It was created by former Google engineer Brian Kennish, who had been working on Disconnect for years (and recently secured funding to help make it).

It's already massively popular, not just for promises of a faster and more secure internet experience, but also for its "pay what you want" model.
