The storyline of "Clair Obscur: Expedition 33" revolves around Gustave and his team's mission to find and kill the mysterious Painter. The Painter awakens once a year and paints down an ever-decreasing number. When people reach that age, they immediately die. Gustave, with only one year left to live, embarks on a desperate quest to break the cycle of death caused by the Paintress
