In Today Is My Birthday you take on the role of Thomas Wilkes, a man who has pleasant childhood memories of Wonder Park – a fun park where his father once worked there and he’d spent many a birthday. The park was destroyed a long time ago in an earthquake, but following the death of his father, Thomas decides to visit the park one last time. However, rather than reliving fun childhood memories, he soon finds himself in a waking nightmare.
As you investigate Today Is My Birthday’s old decaying fun park and unravel its dark secrets you’ll find that it’s not quite as abandoned as it first looks – there are various homicidal maniacs that are keen to make your visit memorable (of dismemberable). You need to use the environment to your advantage as you attempt to run, hide and fight back against your pursuers. Each enemy has unique characteristics and even when you have a weapon, it may not be guaranteed to be effective against that particular pursuer.
Visually Today Is My Birthday looks fantastic, with highly detailed environments that really make the most out of the games creepy abandoned fun park setting. The maniacs also look pretty terrifying too and you’ll have to use your wits to outsmart them if you ever want to escape their clutches.
