Brian Meacham, associate professor of fire protection engineering at Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI) is a leader in developing computational models that help make sound predictions about how buildings will perform in a fire and whether people can safely exit. His work shows how human factors can hinder the best-planned escape routes and the most sophisticated fire-suppression systems.
