Stress-related heart attacks are the leading cause of firefighter deaths. As part of a larger effort aimed at using modern technology to make firefighting safer, researchers at Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI) are developing technology able to monitor a firefighters vital signs and transmit that information wirelessly to an incident commanders workstation. The technology also helps the commander interpret the information and make decisions that can save the lives of his team.
