Wenjing Lou, associate professor of electrical and computer engineering at Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI), directs the Wireless Networking and Security Laboratory, which investigates ways of securing a new generation of wireless networks that are particularly vulnerable to attack, including wireless sensor networks. Lou is also beginning to exploring security issues associated with cloud computing, in which data and software applications live on the Internet rather than on personal computers. These implications are not yet well understood, but they are troubling.
