The episodic story builds on the award-winning survival sandbox gameplay that has put The Long Dark on the top of many "best of" lists since the game's launch in 2014, adding a thoughtful narrative experience that explores the history and current mysteries of Great Bear Island, as survivors there comes to terms with the "Quiet Apocalypse". WINTERMUTE tells the story of bush pilot Will Mackenzie and Dr. Astrid Greenwood as they race to save a remote community from the ravages of this deadly wilderness in a world where all electronics have gone dark, possibly for good.
Each WINTERMUTE episode features between 5-8+ hours of story-driven survival gameplay, ~60 minutes of cinematics, a custom soundtrack, and achievements (platform allowing).
Features voice performances by award-winning actors Jennifer Hale, Mark Meer, David Hayter, Elias Toufexis, and others, and a haunting soundtrack by composer Cris Velasco.
