Vampire: The Masquerade - Reckoning of New York ✔️ PC Demo, Let's Read/Play (Part 2)

I have decided to give this "game" a chance today, and it actually turned out to be quite a good and enjoyable experience. If you like Vampire: The Masquerade 5th edition V5, in short (like I do), then this game is right up your alley. This is only the demo, which is roughly an hour or so, but the full game will be released sometimes at the end of this year (as it is already a bit of a standing tradition with these types of games), or at the beginning of the next. I can't say, and I don't really know. What I do know is that this game is currently developed by Draw Distance (https://drawdistance.dev/) and will be published by Dear Villagers (I have never heard of them before). Draw Distance also made the incredibly successful, visually stunning, and memorable previous two games in the New York trilogy, "Vampire: The Masquerade: Coteries of New York" (2019) and its sequel, Vampire: The Masquerade: Shadows of New York" (2020). I have only played "Coteries" with a Bruja (to full completion) and the opening hour or so of "Shadows" with the Lasombra lady, but never completed it for some reason (so many games to play these days). BUT!!!...the question here remains, well, is this actually just a visual novel where you click on dialogue bubbles and you're presented with illusory choices where they don't matter in the end and it's kind of pointless clicking on things anyway while you read the text, or is this a TRUE VIDEO GAME where your actions determine the outcome, and where your character progresses through various stages until you come to the end of the game and rejoice, because it feels like you've just read a real physical novel and YOU, the player, is the one that matters? Well, actually, in all honesty, it is both. Yes, it is a visual novel (clearly stated on their website and Steam page), and some (but not all) of your actions do make a difference. Trust me, they do! There are actual gameplay elements in it in the vein of the old-school text-based "choose your own adventure" type of games and novels, and that's just fantastic, imho. This third and final installment, though, is actually very, very different from the previous two games in terms of visual art style, UI (user interface), fonts, soundtrack, ambience, presentation, tone, colors, and just the overall feeling of the game, which feels very different, but that can only be a good thing in my book. Why should it not be? So that's that. What else can I add to that? No more yapping and blabbering, and without further ado, let's dive in and experience what this game has to offer or will offer when it launches in December.
...But what about the main protagonist? I'm not a fan of clan Ravnos at all, to be honest with you (still a die-hard Tremere clan member and player), but there's some pretty stellar writing and storytelling to be found in this game, and I can't just brush it off, just because the developers decided to put you in the shoes of some random vampire from the clan of nomads, vagabonds, thieves, and tricksters.
Ravnos or not, let's fucking do this! Enjoy it, and maybe try it out yourself? Good evening!
P.S. The music in the main menu is absolutely gorgeous and spellbinding, and I cannot emphasize enough how good the sound quality of the game feels in general. In terms of that, Draw Distance completely nailed it once more!
