This visual effects tutorial is a follow up to my other particles videos. The new part is that there are some neat new functions that have been added to the use of particles in GameMaker Studio.

Here I will show you methods how you can create markers with particles or radial effects like in diablo 2. This isn't really new stuff but a new angle how you can manipulate particles systems/particles to achieve new effects for your game.

The "new" additions to GameMaker are that you can now have different ways how to use/mix colors in your particles aswell as chain particles together, so that you can make another particle after the death of one or during its (particle) own "step event". So you can basically chain particles. A disclaimer before you use this. If used not correctly you can create an infinite loop which in turn will crash your game.
