Testing F-Zero GX on Dolphin Gamecube Emulator with Steering Mode Controller option in game set using the Mario Kart 8 Pro Controller originally for the Switch.

I had to do some configurations and adjustments but overall it works pretty well.

Here's how I setup my controls:

To give context. F-Zero GX does officially support the GCN Logitech Steering Wheel and Pedal Accessories as demonstrated here:

However as we all know it's not readily available these days and finding the pedals itself is a scavenger hunt. So this is a nice cheap Wheel option if you want to try it on dolphin. Luckily Dolphin has given us an option where the system can detect you're using the steering wheel accessories so with some tweaks and proper rebindings you can make it like you're playing the arcades again.

Here's what I did for my setup. It's not a perfect setup but it works for what I have been able to get working well enough.

1.) What you need is just Hori's Mario Kart Pro Deluxe Steering Wheel and playable dolphin PC.
- This was originally designed for switch and it is usb connected to your switch's dock. Because it's usb connected it also works on your PC and detects as xinput so dolphin can recognize this controller.
- However it doesn't support forcefeedback which the original Logitech wheel did.
- Due note USA Bestbuy is currently have a sale on this as of this posting for $70 USD

2.) Configure your Mario Kart Pro Wheel
- set to 180 Degree mode
- adjust your sensitivity as needed following the instruction booklet that came with the accessory box
- set the wheel to DP mode this is important. I've had issues where switching the modes screws up the controls.

3.) Dolphin Setup and In Game Setup
Once you have the wheel connected to your PC and Dolphin running adjust the following on your dolphin.- Set your Gamecube Controller port to "Steering Wheel" This will make F-Zero recognize that you are connecting a steering wheel and pedal to the system.

Set your Controller bind by pressing the appropriate buttons on the bindings. Here's mine that I used you can try if it works for you or not:

Go into the F-Zero GX Options menu and go to Customization if you set to Steering Wheel correctly you'll see your screen looking like this. I've set my button mapping and prompt as appropriately from the previous step but adjust as you see fit.

Go back to the F-Zero GX options menu go to Calibrate and adjust the sensitivity of the wheel as you see fit and the deadzone.

This setup should make it so that your A button on the wheel is the boost button too. I still need to explore and tweak and trying to figure out the proper pedal system in dolphin but overall this is the closest I could get right now to make it like the logitech steering wheel controls officially. I'm still in the dark on how to setup the pedal controls for whatever reason i don't see it in the dolphin option configurations for the controls.

Then hit up practice mode and try it out. Let me know if this helps. I know my setup ain't great but it was the best i could do with the limitations that was present on me.
