F1 Games: Pole Position II on Atari 7800
This is an attempt to finish all races on Pole Position II for the 7800. I find that the fourth race is near impossible and refuses to let me win it. Whenever it feels like I am getting close, I crash. The collision detection is awful and I find its too hard to judge sometimes when something is going to be a hit or not.
Real hardware used in this, 7800 controllers - at least the European ones is not too bad I think, I like them. You can use others, but I think its fine. 7800 got a motor bike game of a similar style called MotorPsycho which is probably a little easier and skill based at the same time, with some other course obstacles.
This is part of a F1 series in memory of my Uncle, who was a massive F1 fan throughout his life. It made a big impact on me growing up as it was something my family regularly watched. As I grew up, I did move away from watching the motorsport, but I still have a casual interest in racing games in general. I fondly remember playing games on the N64 which was the first ones I remember looking realistic and having full race conditions such as number of laps. The plan is to go up through the ages of games with a F1 lean released in the UK, and then go through licensed F1 games at a later stage. -- Watch live at https://www.twitch.tv/mikebloke
