More powerful roll hoops following Zhou's crash
Along with the porpoising adjustments, there are changes to the safety rules for F1 car roll hoops in the aftermath of Zhou Guanyu's terrifying disaster at the start of the 2022 British Grand Prix, which included his Alfa Romeo sliding along the circuit upside down.


The 2023 Technical Regulations now demand a rounded top on the roll hoop, which reduces the possibility of it digging into the ground after an accident, as well as a minimum height for the point of application of the homologation test.

There will also be a new physical homologation test in which the load pulls the roll hoop forward.
