Fable 3 (Gameplay #2) - In the Dead of the Night
Fable 3 has a great, whimsical atmosphere - despite not boasting quite as idyllic environments as the wonderful second game in the series - and also happens to include some of the funniest writing of any big budget title in recent memory. Building up a mighty real estate empire (which is a more time-consuming and fully integrated part of the game now) can be very addictive, and even the silly mini-games have some tangible raison d'etre given that any additional cash can be used to further increase the player's purchasing power in a never-ending spiral of delicious capitalist depravity; which ultimately serves as one of the more subtle ironic layers of the game's otherwise light-hearted if decidedly anarchical humor.
The combat (at least on the PC-exclusive Challenging difficulty) is a real slog, though, with far too lengthy battles against absurd amounts of enemies which take an inordinate amount of time to kill off, and the player also gets relatively modest amounts of XP in return for all that frantic clicking. Too bad on an otherwise solid concept which was implemented a lot better in Fable 2 (a game that along with Red Dead Redemption is one of those few console titles which really *should* have been ported to PC).
