So apparently, every level of research and tech you go up gets significantly more complicated! I remember why I gave up finishing this game last time, but we're not giving up this time! We're gonna get this stuff figured out! I believe the game is more complex than when I initially played it, as well, because there's at least 1 or 2 more types of science packs than the last time I played.
