5If you have downloaded the movie maker recently from windows-movie-maker.org , you discovered that it has trial version, in fact that's complete BS, because the movie maker are in fact FREEWARE when MS released it back then and there's no need to PAY A MONEY. IF YOU PAID FOR IT YOU HAVE BEEN RIPPED OFF!!!
This video tries to explain what's going on there, is the app laced or not. It turns out that they added a loader application, so the loader would load and 'sniff' on movie maker process. If there's any window on movie maker says Save Movie, it immediately closes them and popping itself back again, pretty much like Sonic Gather Battle trying to close applications that saying cheat like browser tab etc. Loader app is made using VB6.
How this can be done? They uses SEO (Search Engine Optimization) to push them up to search results until now. Combined with the phase out from Microsoft, this is a good recipe, sort of.
