Fall Guys - Climbing My Way Up, Only to Fall Back Down!
Jumping right into the Blunderdome here, with the Fall Guys of old steadily progressing into the Fall Guys of today, slowly catching up as I make my mark in what is my first proper adventure into the new genre of 'Battle Royale', vying to be the top bean in a colorful world clashing with fierce competition for that glorious crown!
It goes without saying that, with this still all being on the first day ever here on Fall Guys, that I have a LOT of learning to do with the controls of this game, seeing how it reminds me a little of how 'floaty' such a game as the LittleBigPlanet series can be, a fine creative platforming game in it's own right, as this is the sort of battle royale game that is surprisingly deceptive for what looks like a genuine kids-friendly game to the naked eye that'd be perfect for their young child or, dare I say, toddler and, whilst that is truly the case, perhaps it's one where they won't be seeing much success (if any at all) due to how competitive the game truly is underneath all of that wonderful settings and cheery chubby bean-like characters here in the Blunderdome!
True, I manage to get by Knight Fever for a third time now, also facing off against a new style of round that I hadn't encountered before, this time being Roll Out which is deemed as a 'survival' round of sorts whereby the goal isn't actually to reach a goal nor to assist with an objective as far as teams go!
No, instead it's a bit more true to form of the traditional battle royale, as you simply have to survive in this rolling wheel platform, with some going clockwise and others anti-clockwise, as there's obstacles in the way (such as walls and those sponge pillars that'll have you bouncing the other direction should you even go far as merely brushing by them!) alongside gaps that'll fool any bean who puts caution to the wind and fall to their demise beneath where the vast pink slime resides, a normally respawnable occasion where normal races and the likes go but, where survival is concerned, it's a one and done deal, meaning if you fall down there before others do? Well...
Fortunately for me, I managed to get by without much difficulty (surprisingly, considering it's my first ever go at this sort of round here!) and went onwards to the third round, the second time ever as well as the first to be recorded here, however it's a bit of a problem when you consider that this is (or was, as of this current stage of Fall Guys here) the level deemed to be the 'hardest' to complete without dying.
Slime Climb, a round that inspires dread and fear for many a newbie and casual bean alike, for it's once more a stage that requires you do not succumb to the slime and complete said stage in one go, however it is both a race that has you go from start to end as per normal, so what's the fuss exactly by taking one's time?
Well this is where the problem arises of that slime being uncomfortably close to the surface which, by design, is very much intentional for as soon as the round begins, the slime actually CLIMBS up slowly, soon engulfing that starting area and working it's way up to consume the less experienced of beans as well as those who make too big a mistake and find themselves falling back down a peg or two, as this is what has caused many a death of casual players alike! (Unsurprisingly here, it's a favourite of those more competitive beans, and no doubt the rare speedrunner here and there simply LOVES to push these sorts of races to it's physical limits and see just how fast they can complete such a fiendish challenge as Slime Climb here!)
It's just a pity then that, for all the effort and skill I tried to muster here on my very first go of it, that I fell down at quite possibly the VERY last obstacle, a swinging hammer that I couldn't dive past in time, and got punted down to the slime! Just like that, I lost it all and had to start from scratch again.
Ah well, one can learn from their mistakes after all, and MANY more shall I make in these upcoming Fall Guys episodes here! Not just in Season 3, but the Seasons after that, as new rounds will always prove to be a fun challenge to overcome, no matter how good one is at such a game as this battle royale twister right here!
In any case, I hope you enjoyed the video and any constructive comments or criticism is appreciated!
